Arriving to Ljubljana

By airplane

Ljubljana airport

Letališče Jožeta Pučnika is 23 km (approx. 30 minutes) outside of capital Ljubljana. The one-way tickets are about 4 €. Several shuttle services are also available, they tend to charge from 15 € (for shared) to 50 € (for individual transport) to the city centre (see e.g. GoOpti). Taxis are also available and the rides range between 35 – 50 €. There is also a regular bus connection to the Ljubljana main bus station (once per hour, the last bus at 8 p.m.). Trieste airport

At distance of 120 km from Ljubljana, Trieste airport is also a good option. You can travel to Ljubljana twice a day with train, by bus, car, towncar or a shuttle (GoOpti) . Bus will cost you around 30 € and almost 2 hours, driving with rent-a-car or shuttle will be 1,15 hours long and will cost you between 30 and 100 € (depends of the car). Klagenfurt airport

There are 4 ways to get from Klagenfurt Airport to Ljubljana (130 km): by bus, train, rent-a-car or shuttle. Bus will take you around 4 hours and costs between 11–16 €, shuttle will cost you between 10 – 140 € and around 1,5 hours, same as rent a car. Train cost around 45 €, but is not faster than bus. Zagreb airport

Arriving by train

Ljubljana Railway Station

The railway station is situated in the centre of the town and is within the walking distance to the conference venue. Arriving by bus

Ljubljana Bus Station

Long-distance buses stop at the central bus station that is situated in the middle of the town in front of the Railway station. You can get from there to Gospodarsko Razstavišče on foot (approx. 15 min walk), by taxi (it costs about 10 €) or by local buses (see below). Geting around Ljubljana

Ljubljana is not that large, most of the centre is within the walking distance. 

Buses

For those not eager of walking there are local buses (LPP-Ljubljanski Potniški Promet). For participants of the Discrete 2024, bus transportation will be free with a conference badge.

 

Biking

From the city center of Ljubljana to Gospodarsko Razstavišče you can also bike - up to 15 minutes long ride. Subscription to public bike-lease service BicikeLJ costs 1 € for a week and 3 € for a year.
