The 2024 XQCD PhD school is an accompanying event to the 20th International Conference on QCD in Extreme Conditions (XQCD 2024).

The school will take place from July. 14th to July. 16 at the Institute of Modern Physics (Lanzhou), Chinese Academy of Sciences, P.R. China.

The school will feature block lectures 6 x 45 minutes covering four cutting-edge research topics centred on topics covered in the XQCD conference, providing an in-depth review of these fields for PhD students.

The lectures will be given by internationally recognized theoretical physicists:

  • Frithjof Karsch (U. Bielefeld): Lattice QCD at finite temperature and density.
  • Jan Pawlowski (Heidelberg U.): Functional QCD and the QCD phase diagram.
  • Koutarou Kyutoku (Chiba U.): Neutron stars & multi-messenger physics
  • TBA: Non-equilibrium phase of QCD

To ensure that each participant fully interacts with lecturers and other participants, we plan to enroll around 80 participants.

Financial support

There will be no participation fee.

We plan to cover the local accommodation of 20 participants who need financial support to attend the school. If you require support, please choose "Yes" for "You need financial support" during the registration.
