Code of conduct

In protest against the invasion of Russia (with the support of Belarus) on an independent and sovereign territory and the people of Ukraine, on March 1, 2022 Poland suspended scientific collaboration with the Russian Federation. Following the decision of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University, which suspends cooperation with Russian universities and research centers, submissions from authors with affiliation to institutions from the Russian Federation and also from the Republic of Belarus will be rejected.

The open exchange of ideas, the freedom of thought and expression, and respectful scientific debate are central to the goals of the International Scientific Conference ‘SeMPowisko 2024’; this requires a community and an environment that recognizes and respects the inherent worth of every person.

For Participants

  • The Mathematical and Natural Sciences Interdisciplinary Student Conference ‘SeMPowisko 2024’ is an event for registered attendees. Attendees are required to wear a badge with their name and affiliation at all times. The information about the connection to virtual tools (MS Teams, etc.) is for registered users only. When participating through virtual tools, all attendees should use their own names.

  • All attendees are expected to behave professionally and treat each other with respect. Discussions must be respectful and based solely on the scientific merit. Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

  • Posting highlights on social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc.) helps promote scientific discussion and is permitted unless the Speaker decides otherwise.

  • Every attendee should contribute to a respectful and inclusive meeting atmosphere. Any discriminatory behaviour against colleagues will not be tolerated during the conference or in any related event.

For Speakers

  • Three types of speech are provided: long (20 minutes), short (15 minutes), and express (10 minutes). After each presentation, a 5-minute Q&A session is anticipated. Please be mindful of the time constraints to ensure that all speakers can both give their lectures and answer questions in their Q&A slots. Going over time will lead to question time reduction.

  • Please print posters for the Poster Session in advance. Posters should not be bigger than the A0 format.

  • Use a plain or uniform background for the presentation. The font should be clearly visible and readable. Choose the colour palette in such a way that colour-blind participants can access the contents without problems.

  • Make sure that all key content in the presentation is also relayed in the lecture and not only written in the slides.

  • Use respectful language at all times, in the slides, during your talk, and when answering questions. Critique ideas and not people. All presentation-related questions are valid, so be prepared to make explanations to people from other fields.
