The site of the workshop is the Granlibakken conference center in Tahoe City, CA located ~50miles from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). In the winter it is a ~1hr 15m drive from the airport to the conference center rental cars should be fitted with winter tires but 4-wheel drive is not required. The Granlibakken FAQs answer many questions about getting to the conference center. Instead of renting a car, one can reserve an airport shuttle or use public transportation.
